How effective is the nursery education?

All areas of learning and care were judged to be very good


Brookside Busy Bees Pre-school offers very good quality nursery education overall. Children make very good progress towards the early learning goals in all six areas of learning and demonstrate a high level of involvement and enjoyment in activities provided which are exciting and stimulating. Children are happy and confident within the setting, they feel secure, valued and included.

•Children are interested, excited and motivated to learn. They work independently and in groups demonstrating a high level of involvement in activities, concentrating and persevering at tasks for lengthy periods of time.

 
•A secure knowledge and understanding of the early learning goals and effective teaching engages and sustains children's interests and efforts in a stimulating well-organised and resourced learning environment.

 
•Children are happy, confident and independent learners, they form very good relationships with each other and staff. Children's behaviour is good, they take turns, share fairly and are kind and considerate to each other.


•Children's imagination and creativity are well fostered by the range of resources, opportunities for role-play and through purposeful creative activities.

 
•Children are clear and fluent speakers who initiate conversations expressing their needs, ideas and thoughts confidently and with enthusiasm. They take turns in conversation, listen well and take account of what others say.


The quality of teaching is very good. Staff demonstrate a secure knowledge of the early learning goals and the Foundation Stage of Learning, they plan a broad and balanced curriculum which enable children to make very good progress. Staff allow children time to play, initiate, extend, re-visit and consolidate their learning, they support, encourage and challenge children's thinking using good questioning techniques and very good intervention. Staff form very good relationships with the children, they know children very well and meet their individual learning needs successfully. Staff make effective use of the resources and accommodation, the learning environment is well-organised, bright, stimulating and well maintained. Resources are stored attractively and are accessible to children.

The leadership and management of the setting is very good. Staff work very well together, they are aware of their roles and responsibilities and are deployed effectively to support children's learning successfully. The good teamwork contributes to an effective learning environment. Staff demonstrate a strong commitment to the improvement of care and education for all children who attend.

The partnership with parents is very good. Staff welcome parents into the setting, they are warm, friendly, and approachable. Parents are provided with good verbal and written information about the setting and educational provision. Staff inform parents about their children's progress and achievements on a daily basis.
